Make Today Count.

On the weekend of Friday 28th Feb, over three days, 145 thrillseekers would skydive over 10,000 feet for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign.

My daughter, Lucie and her partners father, Tim, were two of those people.

On Saturday, 1st of March at 11:30 we made our way to Hinton Skydive centre, Brackley.
Above us were bright blue, clear skies whilst on the ground there was a mixture of excitement and apprehension.
The excitement was coming from the two skydivers, Lucie and Tim (my opposite number) and the apprehension was from me, Nick, Lucie's partner and other members of the family that have come to support them. To add to this combination we got the news that they would probably be the penultimate skydivers of the day, taking off at 16:45. So lots of hanging around and time to contemplate.

The reason we are here is not because anyone was asked to do this, It was something Lucie took on herself to do , as did Tim (I only found out Tim was jumping a week ago!)
That is simply what Lucie is like and has always been like, she is a very selfless person and makes it extremely easy to be proud of her in all that she is and does.

Now if you're a parent you're probably all thinking the very same thing about your children, regardless of age pride comes to the fore.
This is Lucie's fund raising page, again which I knew nothing about until recently...

I Make Today Count
"For those of you who may or may not know, Muscular Dystrophy is a charity close to my heart, my dad, Martin Hywood suffers from Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy, he struggles on a daily basis but never moans. Alongside him helping him every step of the way is my step mum, Michelle Hywood, Michelle helps and supports Martin in every way, I also have two sisters, Olivia and Skye. They are both young and see and understand the daily tasks Martin faces however as a family we get by and enjoy every day! This fundraising event is for me to give a little back in hope that they will soon find a cure so people like my dad don't have to suffer with the pain he does daily. Any donation big or small is one step closer to a cure. Thank you for taking the time to read my story and join me and my family in the fight."

I'm beaming.

Lucie and Tim both reached and beat their sponsorship targets, now it's time to skydive back to earth from over 10,000 feet!

Lucie and Tim are briefed, then off they go. The last we saw of them was on the runway, taking off.

Nick and I are pacing up and down and not talking too much. After about 10 minutes we hear the plane engines cut and see little dots leaving its fuselage,  they're on their way. We had no idea they were having the time of their lives!

Free fall

As Lucie and Tim came down the sheer joy and excitement was clear to see, they was exhilarated and buzzing.

Lucie landed, hugged everyone and then finally me, that felt fantastic, everyone was bursting with pride.
Tim wanted to do it again... Immediately!

Between Lucie and Tim, they raised over £1500,00 for the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign. Myself, Nick and the rest of the family felt extremely proud.

Lucie and Tim back down to earth

The feelings I get when people aroud me do things like this is unreal, like my brother running last years London Marathon, my gratitude and thanks could never be explained into words. There isn't any words to come near to how I feel.
Thank you to everyone that 'Made Today Count' You are all amazing!
